Go put some 93 octane in and enjoy the sunshine.

My understanding is, that if you reflash, back to the factory tune. Ford will be able to tell the system has been accessed, but not what was done.

Yeah I knew the intake was coming today, so I went and burned off the last of my 87 and filled her up w/ the good stuff (@ 3.47 a gallon, btw) I gave her a once over with a little Meguiars and she's just sitting in the driveway looking pretty, waiting for her intake.

Well, I guess we'll find out. I did put 10k miles on already, so I'm hoping that if I were going to have any major problems they would have surfaced by now (knock on wood.)

Question for you... all CAI's don't require 93 tune right? I haven't done the research but can someone clarify the octane tune options on certain CAI choices that you are aware of. Thanks, Jim

You don't need to switch to 93 Octane if you get a CAI Combo. Frankly you could probably run 87 Octane with many bolt ons. You will just recieve better performance with the 93 Octane naturally. Most tuners come preprogrammed with up to 3 Octane settings. 87, 91, 93.

Honestly I'd like to start out with 87 tune and see. ...not looking for a tenth or two in the qtr, just the step to CAI and tune in general.

fairlane,
I was just like you.. then I thought .. what is 15 to 20 cents more per gallon with all the fun you can have with using 93 .?? 16 x 20 = $3.20 for a full tank. you can always go back to 87.. but I bet once you try the 93 WITH A TUNE.
(from a shop ) you won't even think about the cost of fuel anymore.. at least I didn't after I got mine done.. always using 93 now.. just in case... lol
don't get me wrong I look for the lowest price .. but 1 or 2 cents is not worth a long drive to save..
