Default RE: Tuners vs. Warranty

I may have a lucky streak when I mod my car. I know the guy who runs the service shop at my Ford dealership because I see him racing his 90 model 5.0 all the time. He has already asked me if I was going to mod and I told him I wasn't sure what I wanted to do past my flowmasters.

I got the Wayne's tune for mine and I have NEVER had a problem at my dealership. Two times I had the dealer say your car runs a lot smoother than before, but that was it. I think it really depends on the attitude you have when you walk into a dealership. Remember its a privately owned entity based on profits just as if you owned it.

Both of you guys are right as far as dealerships go. Relationships and attitude go along way.

What this discussion has shown is that it is not a matter of any individual's opinion whether a dealer covers this, but FACTUALLY whether your specific dealer will cover the warranty repairs or not. There were far more productive suggestions given in a separate thread yesterday that was far more suggestive rather than opinionated (Link. People actually gave practical suggestions, as opposed to opinionated lecturing. Opinions are great...but not all that much helpful when asking a matter of fact. That's even more the case when there are actually laws regulating the item being discussed.

OK, so......

1. read that thread (u c it's your opinion it's better, not a fact it's better)

2. get a lawyer for about 5 grand to enforce the laws and try to settle the $800 dispute, you still may not win.

3. here's a fact.... the new 'Stang has been on the road for like 13 months, the SD's are trying to get used to it, and then owners start throwing CAI, tunes, new pullies, exhausts, throttle bodies, etc... What the f*** do you expect them to do, when they see something different ? They are trained to take care of the car like it was... when it rolled off the line, came off the carrier, and left their lot.

4. one more fact... the laws you refer to are meant more for non-brand replacement parts, rather than mods.

5. last fact...... It's your car and their warranty. LIVE with it.

SHEEESH !!!
