Default Question on Sirius Sportster Install in 06 GT

I talked with a Crutchfield rep online, and she told me I needed the following things to install the Sirius Sportster in my 2006 Mustang GT:

469FRD4AUX P.I.E. FRD04-AUX Auxiliary Interface Ford
119AICIP Monster Mini Jack to Dual RCA 7 foot cable for iPod
607SPTK2 Sportster Replay SPT-K2 Sirius Satellite Radio/Car Kit Pkg

For those who have done this already, did you really need the PIE Aux interface and the RCA cabling to hook up your Sirius to the Mustang?

i'm gonna have to disagree, in my experience from both satilite radio's (XM and sirius) i've found sirius to be superior for music selection. where i'm from it has better reception in the boonies too.

i would have to say give em both a try if possible and form your own opinion

I put the Sirius sportster in my car. I used what was in the kit and nothing more. Granted, I'm using the built in FM modulator....which sounds fine to me.

I canceled my Sirius subscription and took the receiver back after only 20 days. I thought that the selection sucked!! There is no new music on it! It's all older music, or no name bands. I never once hear like godsmack, linkin park, disturbed, etc kind of music... Just my $.02

So you bought just the Sportster that includes the car kit, and installed that? I'm curious how it connects if you don't buy the AUX adapter...

To answer your question and not get into a Sirius/XM debate...

You do not need the PIE adapter. You can turn the FM modulator on that is built into the Sirius. You will hear it through the radio. The sound quality will be no better than a good radio signal. If you install the PIE, you will get much better, cleaner sound.

Thanks for the insight. I'll go with the PIE adapter, although $80+ seems expensive for an adapter.

I just bought an FM modulator from Circuit City for 39.95 and instead of using the here2anywhere's built in FM modulator....this just plugs in line with the factory antenna. Sound quality was greatly improved over the unit's built in Modulator. I love the selection of the channels and yes there is always new music on almost every channel to whomever said there wasn't. I have had mine over two years and its just about all I listen to.
