Thanks for posting this stuff Viking! I plan on getting my 05+ GT soon and this has made me feel a lot better about it. It cost me $49 on (89 octane!) to fill up my mom's Explorer yesterday and I felt sick driving home with that. I figure the low power + high weight of the SUV would = the high power + lower weight of a GT....in my mind So I feel soo much better now, can other people getting 21+ MPG chime in on these gains aswell?
You'll do better with the Mustang than the Explorer does, I used to have a Sport Trac and it averaged 15 to 17 on it's best tanks...

I got 22.5 on a 1200 mile road trip at about 80mph. Closer to 18.5-19 in houston...no mods to the engine yet. Waiting on my drop in K&N and I make the same trip in a month... Guess we'll see if there's a diff then

I've been keeping track of my past fillups and mine's been getting 23.449 MPG, 25.541 MPG (approx 80% hwy), 22.544 MPG, 23.241 MPG, and my most recent fillup 22.851 MPG.
I just put in a K&N and I'm getting some increased MPG numbers. In my current tank full, my info center has indicated 24.1 MPG with approximately 65% highway driving.
I ordered a DiabloSport so I'm waiting for that to come in.

I find my info center is nearly as accurate as doing the math on what it takes between fill-ups.

I should add I'm now at 7 months and 2,670 miles so it should get even better.

Yeah. Some people don't believe that the info center isn't accurate, but I believe it is very accurate.
My calculations versus info center have been off by no more than .200 MPG. Whether I'm off or the info center is off, its still not bad!

I live on sea-level being that I commute to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina for work. In the morning I have no choice but to go with the traffic and I average then about 24 to 25 miles a gallon however going home when the traffic isn't a factor and my foot is in it , then I only average about 21- 22 a gallon.
