Most cops don't bother you if your going a safe speed above the limit.

In my jurisdiction I have to visually verify that the target vehicle is exceeding the speed limit. What that means is that my radar is in standby mode until I see a car that I think is speeding (most cops are suprisingly good at estimating another vehicles speed). When I switch to active it is too late for your detector to do any good. I give a lot of warnings, except when I see the radar detector in the car!
Is that interceptor stang your personal vehicle? If so, do you use a radar detector at all?.....or do you just present your creditals if and when your pulled over for speeding?

Don't waste your money on any radar detector from Escort, Cobra, or Belltronics... there is only one radar detector... Valentine 1 (V1) http://www.valentine1.com/

Yes it works, I've compared side by side with the others... it picks up some radar at 2+ miles.

Basically from my own experience, if they use a radar gun you've got a chance..if it's laser..well the detector is just letting you know you've been busted, because it doesn't go off until about the time you visually see the officer.

I completely disagree. My detector warns me about 2 miles from where they are shooting the radar gun. Thats what a detector does - warn you of upcoming radar.

Same subject, different question. I talked to a fellow "Stang" owner at a gas station this morning. I noticed he had an 05 GT with no front plate (they are "required" in Ohio). Since I haven't had the heart to drill into the bumper of my 06 GT Vert, I asked him if he had any PD trouble. He said he took it his plate off because he found out the front plate was the only flat metal point on the front of the car that would return the radar signal. Since than he's had several attempts to radar gun him and he should have been busted but the PD obviously got a 'no read" on their gun. Anybody else heard this???

First off radartest.com HATES Valentine and there has been a war between the two since 2000.

Little more research shows:
Hmmm 1
Hmmm 2

That site also fails to mention that the V1 is upgradable. V1 is hands down the last radar detector you will buy. For my money that's what I'm looking for.

I read the same article and chose the Passport over the valentine.
