Default paint/clear coar damage from tires

I don't know if anyone else noticed it or not but paint (or rather the clearcoat) on my black GT is showing signs of wear after 5 months and 8k miles. The area of damage is behind the wheels, lower portion of the wheel-wells. At first I thought it was dirty and tried washing it off - looked ok while wet. Once the water dries - those fade spots come right back. Looks like all the dirt and sand kicked up by the tires is acting like a sand-blaster...

It might have something to do with the 18" wheels too and the color itself (more noticeable on black) too... Anyone else?

10k miles here. No fading at all, you waxing or anything like that?

It was waxed ~2k mark. It's a temporary solution anyway as eventually you'll run out of paint to wax

I like the 3M film idea, I have it installed on the entire nose, looks like that small area behind wheel-wells will have to be done as well (http://www.xpel.com/products/configu...0&submodel=578 , part number: P0523D)...

I also bought some rear mud-flaps (molded), I'll put those on too. Maybe they won't look too retarded

For me, one reason that I went with FRP chrome bullits; tire remains within the wheelwell at OE locations which especially in the front where I have custom paint I want the sandblasting (which is normal) to remain within the fender wells. Small sections of 3M clear will help but they aren't so easy to disguise (on a dark colored car) IMO as dust/dirt likes to collect at raised edge. Worst case have the section redone after a few years.

I must say that the 3M film is awesome, it doesn't pick up dirt any differently then the rest of the body. Since the car is black - you can't really tell a solid line of dirt build-up (like on a yellow car for example). It all gets nasty in a hurry By the way, the wheels I have are the 18" OEM variety (see crappy picture below)...
