The existing amps are TWO channel? I assume one channel for the components and one for subs in each door?
Nope the amps are only for the subs the Component speakers in the door are powered by the head Unit. 1 Amp per Sub, 1 chgannel per Voice Coil. The Amps are both located in the upper left hand side of the drivers foot well they are 2 small silver boxes.

Hope that helps.
the existing amplified head unit is 4 channel, and the shaker system is 5 channel. the channels consist of FL, FR, RL, RR, and sub. this is how you are able to to fade (front to back) and also balance (side to side), with seperate sub adjustment. however, only one channel controls both voice coils of the subs, which are wired together in series most likely

Thes subs are DVC with a channel from the amp to each one. The amp is fed the exact same signal to each channel, so that the speakers see the same thing from both channels at the same time. So the sub is fed two signals from the same amp that are identical.

I think I get it now. The amps are receiving the 'sub' signal on input side. The amp then splits the signal to the two channels, since its the same signal on both channels, you can wire one channel to each voice coil? Right?

So each channel of the amp is 'seeing' 1.2ohms? Which means the amp would have to be stable at 1 ohm, correct?

I think I'm gonna get a book on this subject. I'm learning alot on this forum though...thanks for the info everyone.
