3m Protective film?

3m Protective film?
So I just bought my mustang a little over a week ago and was thinking about the 3m clear tape to help reduce dings on the front. I am pretty handy with doing my own repairs and tweeks. I was wondering if anyone has heard of this company....
http://www.ppfpro.com/
They sell a basic 3m film kit for $95 and the deluxe for $225. I did not know if anyone has tried this on there vehicles and could give some before hand tips!
Thanx,
Michael
Yes Elektra is the name of the Stang! She is a rowdy B*tch that needs to be controlled

Yes I've seen it put on Lexus's, and spoke with the guy doing for them. Yes it works and if it's done right you wont even know it's there. I saw it done and I would NOT try it myself. It takes alot of work to ensure you don't ahve any bubbles or creases. Imagine puttting on window tint only 10 times harder without any screwups.
That's why they'll charge you about $500, it's all in the labor.

I bought mine from Clearmask.com and installed myself. The headlights, and hood, fender kit are pretty easy to do if you have some patience. You get a few sample pieces to test out. The one big piece to do the bumper is tough. Having two people to work together would really help, as you actually have to strech the material into place. Also getting the front end up on ramps helps. I ended up making a few cuts in the material and breaking into 3 sections. Still very happy with the results.
I would try the small kit first, small pieces first, and go from there.

It's a pain to do it yourself but if you can you will save a lotta cash. I had it professionally installed and it came out to 700 total. That price was fine with me because it was a 4 hour install and I know I would have cheesed it. I'd give it a shot with the small kit but if you spend the 300+ on the full kit get a professional install!
I love this product. The front end of our cars is a rockchip magnet...

I got two quotes for about 500 installed. Hmm? I wonder if I should do it myslef for that price then. One of the places I even get a $50 rebate for a gas card.
Side note: I wana do stripes down the hood, do you think I can do the stripes and the 3m film?

500 is a good price if it is a full kit...and the real 3M clear bra. If your talking about decal stripes that might make things a little difficult but not impossible I would think.
btw what color is your car? any imperfections will be magnified by darker colors. If it's black I suggest a pro install.

Guys, Just a few words on the film.I install film and have first hand experience with it.Yes, the labor is the most of the cost. The 3M film is the worst film .Here's why, it has a bunch of orange peel look to it and doesn't stretch very well. There's a film called --Venture that is much better to work with and stretches really well.,plus it is very smooth.I've checked into all of the films out there and venture is the best.Check this site out,www.invisiblepatterns.com .If you are in the central Ohio area I can help you out.Legend GT

I had the 3M clear bra installed by a dealer and wanted the stripes over it. They said they could not do it, so I got a stripe kit and did it myself. There were no issues with where the stripe material met the clear bra as they anticipated. It also seems that the clear bra is much more sticky and due to it's thickness, does not seem as if it will peel up if I decide to take the stripes off.

Do a search back at least 6 months on "clear bra" and you will find tons of info... I have one (not 3M) ..I love it..above all
