i was gonna go with the Hurst or Steeda also but my shop guy told me that he has been installing that little adapter from steeda and a set of polyurathane bushings into the stock shifter and it is just as good as the whole aftermarket assembly and will save you a couple hundred dollars
Well then, know where to get that adapter and bushings for cheap. I am all about not spending money if i dont have too, haha.

The adapter is from Saleen look around on their website, I don't have time right now. The poly bushings are available from Steeda.

The problem most people have shifting into 3rd in these cars is because the motor is torquing over against the stock hydrobushings. If you use torque limiters or good motor mounts 90% of the shifting problems will be cured and also help transmit power to the ground more efficiently.

The Hurst with the chrome handle is more or less a stock shifter with a shorter throw it isn't any stronger it just looks pretty.

B&M uses some parts from the stock shifter (not the best idea IMO). it also has a design flaw that was causing a bolt to come loose and fall out leaving cars stranded. B&M's fix was telling customers to use locktite on the bolt. I know of 2 individuals that have now had that bolt break and now that part that the bolt broke off in was part of the originial shifter so they are stuck trying to find a stock shifter or buying one from Ford for $200, oh and B&M isn't being of any help.

Here's the saleen link. This thing used to be about $25 or so. Looks like they raised it to $50.

How much did the kit and bearings cost for the installation?

I only used the block, feels absolutely great for me. I got it when it was 25, at 50 bucks it's still a bargain.

I love my Hurst, but it has this same problem. First time I reinstalled them with a little loctite, second time I used a bunch of loctite (red) and torqued the snot out of them. If they loosen up again I'm going to try through bolts with jam nuts on the other side I guess.

I just had a hurst installed and so far i love it !...Its a nite and day difference over stock..very notchy but i like that..I dont hear any vibration at high rpm's. I can see where power shifting might be a problem but i dont do a lot of power shifting if any so far.

06 GT, White, 5sp, 3.73's, Hurst, Lots of MGW Chrome...C&L and tuner from Brenspeed coming this Friday

Count another vote for the hurst... Gotta have the white ball too! That's what really makes the difference. [8D]
