Did you try disconnecting the battery for like 15 mins to clear the ECU? I always do that when I change the tune.

Where did you get this tune? Is it w/ a Predator or SCT? Are you Auto or manual? Do you have a CAI?
These may be important

Its an XCal 2, with a basic off the shelf SCT Tune. No CAI, and its a stick.
Then I wouldn't expect a seat of the pants difference, you need more air to make more power, these cars suck in air through a tiny opening in the air box. Get a CAI to work with the tune and say hello to more power. In that instance an 87 tune with the CAI would make a big difference compared to a 93 tune and stock.

So if running a 93 oct tune doesnt gain much in hp results, I might as well save some money for now and deal with the 87 oct tune? I mean if I am really only getting a couple hp using the 93 tune over the 87, whats the point for now?

Put 4.10's in the rear end ( best bang for the buck IMO ) then post again... also a C&L CAI won't hurt.
very easy to install....

best mod I did was the gears.. I went with 3.73's .. but your car came stock with 3.55's so if you go to 3.73's you won't notice much.. mine came with 3.31.. I get better mpg after the gear change..
so if I where you I would put in 4.10's .. you are in a higher gear ( when shifting) before you know it..
why I think I get better mpg... you have to get moving first... then it is not hard for the car to keep you going...
EDIT: you will need a dyno tune also.. that way everything is just right...
