Default Chip + Intake Void Engine Warranty Correct?

Seems like a ton of people do this and I heard it voids your engine warranty. How valuable is this warranty anyway? And how many miles should you wait to throw those mods on, as my car is still being made

Actually, it does not void your warranty. In fact it is illegal for a dealer to void your warranty because you added aftermarket parts.

Look up the Federal Moss-Manguson Act for all the details.

Mine is fully modded with 3500 miles on the odometer...see signature for mods.

Hope this helps.

Mike

^ What he said. Ford Racing offers mods that you can actually order through your Ford dealer and have installed without issue... Trust me, Mike speaks the truth. Don't let anyone BS you on this.

Mod away and enjoy your ride.

well what about a Saleen? I am thinking of ordering a package from JDM that consists of 39lb injectors, new 8-10PSI pullies, ect. I assume this will void warranty (at least the saleen one), I am correct right?

I think the general rule of the above mention Act is that the manufacturer's warranty cannot be categorically voided just for having those aftermarket parts put in. Now, if they can prove that your aftermarket parts caused the malfunction or breakage, they can refuse to fix it under warranty.............its then your responsiblity. But they can't refuse to fix a defective Shaker unit or shock strut just because you have a CAI and tune installed.

What about adding a Supercharger? I was thinking about a Whipple and when I called them they said the kit just came out and to call the local Ford dealer I bought it from. I will call them tomorrow if I get a chance but I would think it is not up to the dealer to make that call.

Just so you know, they can say any engine malfunction was caused by the aftermarket part and say your engine's warranty is void. While it won't mean that you can't get you radio or interior flaw fixed if there is a problem with the engine or the drive train it will cost you a whole lot more than replacing those cheaper parts! I had to have my whole engine and the computer replaced with a problem that started with the fuel injection. It would have cost me about $10,000 in parts and labor if I'd had an illegal CAI!
My advice? Get the cheapest Mustang that is off warranty and fix it up. Or get one of the many salvaged Mustangs!
