235/45 OR 235/50 OR 245/45
I'm putting these tires on my 18"rims I got last week.

Whats best, on the 06' oem bullit 18" rims... I'd dont wanna hurt a rim and will be swapping tires in the winter... these will just be for the summer months... does a 50 offer more protection then a 45 or will i need to be equally careful with either 45 or 50 profile... does 245 fit will on that rim... I just dont need to dent up a rim. Those tires are said to have firmer sidewall... opinions please

RE: 235/45 OR 235/50 OR 245/45
Well, some claim that a 235 on a 8.5" rim is "perfect for handling". BMW and porsche usually dont go wider than that on an 8.5 to minimize sidewall roll and flex.
I think it is a bit narrow myself for a musclecar.
235-45-18 and 245-45-18 will have an overall smaller diameter than the stock 235-50-18. Not good IMO.
I was toying around with the thought of 255-45-18 myself on my 18" factory bullits. That is what ford is using on the GT-500 front with a wider rim. But that is as wide as I would personally go on the 8.5". I would have liked if the factory 18's were 9" wide, but what are you going to do.
But I was looking at the goodyear f1's or mich pilot sports myself. Never been a big BFG fan. Just personal preference.

RE: 235/45 OR 235/50 OR 245/45
I believe stock is a 9 inch rim with 255/45/18.
I think the Saleen is 265/45/18 on the same width rim. Speedo is same with this size as above.
I'm thinking of running a 285/40/18 (Rear) - 265/45/18 (Front).
Maybe a 295/40/18 in the rear if it will fit.
Speedo should be correct with either combo.

RE: 235/45 OR 235/50 OR 245/45
a 255/45-18 has an OD of 27.04 "
265/45 has an OD of 27.04"
285/40 has an OD of 26.97"
it will be close, but the fronts will throw your car a little off balance. I wouldnt run 285, on thestock wheels..it is just too wide for an 8.5-9 inch wheel, would look kinda puffy more than likely
