I did not yell once in fact i remained very calm about the whole thing because I am a service manager at another shop, so I know it is not nice to be yelled at. I was very polite and matter of fact about the whole thing. I also am not saying he shouldn't have test driven the car. No real reason for it since the problem was in regard to the blinker and nothing else's. The fact that he did the burnout is what pisses me off. My car has less than two hundred miles on it and has already been scratched more than more 97 F-150 I have.

Techs just hook computers up to vehicles and find out whats wrong, they dont really know anything. Thats what you find at most dealerships.
I work in Marine Service and from my experience honesty is the best policy (unless you can fix it before the customer comes to pick up the vehicle :P ). If you know you did something you call the customer, tell em the damage, and tell em it's being fixed asap. If you didnt know you did it and get blamed for it you dont deny it, you dont argue, you just accept it and take care of it (unless the customer is really out of line and flat out lieing). Stuff like those scratches happens all the time. That tech was an idiot for lieing/arguing like that and the dealership is stupid if they didnt get on his *** for scratching it first off and then arguing with you.
As far as the burnouts go... out of line, and the rubber should have been cleaned off in the first place by the dealer. Now there could have been a reason for a test drive and there could have not been, other than taking it out to make sure everything is ok. We do it all the time. I can damn well guarantee you when a 35' fountain comes in with twin 500 hp merc motors that we are going to run it even if it wasnt in for a running problem, or the 18 liberator cat with a 300 merc outboard that does 105mph... I wouldnt say taking your car for a ride was out of line to make sure it was all ok, just the burnouts were.
Yelling and arguing isnt going to help either, I know you were pissed but all it does is make all the guys go in the back after you leave and talk **** about you and care that much less about going the extra mile to make things right. You should have let them fix your scratch and if they showed further incompetence then you should take it elsewhere, never go back, and send them a bill.
Just some constructive advice from someone in the service industry.

RE: Techs at Dealership are freakin IDIOTS!
What I really dislike is that my dealership doesn't have a window to see into the bay, because sitting around watching soap opera's boring and I want to see what they are doing to my car... and like most said, see if it's just sitting or if people are actually working on it. I've had several instances when I waited about 4-5 hours. Once time all I was getting done was a speaker looked at, and my handle on my seat put back on.. (It fell off and I didn't want to mess with it.) Needless to say I was pretty upset, and I even told them I wasn't waiting anymore and to bring my car back around.
Although no one has ever driven my car like a loud man, but I have heard them rev her up several times. Which is ok I guess, I didn't mind. It's not really "abuse" but my car was very loud with an O/R H-pipe and SLP loudmouths, so they were just ticklin' their fancies I guess.

Now you are doing the right thing.. give them ONE more chance.. dealers get a bad rap sometimes.. find a good one and stay with that one..
I can't stress how important it is to get your " own dealer mechanic " he knows your car inside and out.. that is all he does ALL DAY LONG..
is work on Ford cars and trucks, etc..
again throw the guy a few bucks .. get to know his first name ( he knows yours and you know his )
if he goes to another dealer.. follow that guy.. I don't know how many people followed me when I would change to a different dealership.. NO JOKE..
I would change dealerships because of more money.. almost all mechanics work on "flat rate"
IE: you need front brakes.. the job pays 2.5 hours.. if he gets it done in 1 hour he still gets paid 2.5 hours.. but if it takes him 5 hours.. he still only gets paid 2.5 hours .. just a FYI if somebody doesn't know what "flat rate" meens...
bottom line.. get yourself a FORD TECH and become buds with him.. he will treat your car just like you want it to because he knows you are going to throw a few bucks his way.. plus he is making money from working on your car...
I even made sure the car wash guy did a good job on my customers...!!!! .. again NO JOKE...
best of luck

I personally think flat rate BLOWS. It is not good for the customer which to me is the most important person. It can be great for a tech that knows his **** and is effecient and still works with caution but for the average tech that is still learnig it can kill him so he rushes things.

Thats why, today I took my Stang over to a friend of the family and neighbors that has his own garage and builds mustangs. I got my 1st oil change just hit 3,000 miles. My Stang was clean when I took it over to him and I got it back the same way and no damage. I won't leave my car with those idiots at the dealership. They always have to touch my mirrors and seats just to put the car into the garage bay to work on it.
My wife has a 2002 Saturn SC2. After they work on it, any thing really, they wash it. Believe me they suck at doing that also.
I told her to tell them to leave it alone. I put all that work into it and they mess it up.
I guess we have to take a camera with us and snap photos and have they sign a paper stating the condition of the car before working on it. Of course they will lie about scratching, denting or greasing up car.
I'm waiting for one day the idiot who sits in my Stang with a screwdriver in his back pocket and rips my leather seats. I will demand new seats. No repair job. You all probably could picture that now can you?

Sorry to hear it Rich-- dealers really are stupid. When I first got my 2000, I had some problems with the dash lights not working correctly. The dealers rewired it twice and still couldn't get it right. One time they wired it all up, put the wrong fuses in and blew some wires again.
I always deal with a specialist now-- it's usually cheaper and they know what the heck they're doing.

I had a brand new 93 Cobra that I was somewhat proud of. (floor mats kept wrapped in plastic etc.) I took it to the dealer for a power window problem and left specific instructions for it not to be taken out and driven. A few hours later I got a call at work that my Cobra had been in an accident. They took it out to road test it... To make matters worse, the skidmarks my car left at the scene indicated he was speeding at the time too.

I never knew that you have to TEST DRIVE the car after fixing the window. He should be shot , in fact they all should be.

Isn't there some sort of phone # you can call Ford and tell them about a dealership. Or even call the BBB on them. My dad called some # about a Ford dealership that tried to screw me out of my money because they found a car that fit what i wanted back in '99 and instead of shipping the car up from VA(i'm in PA) they drove the car up and put 300+ miles on it and told me they weren't going to take anything off for the mileage when they never told us it was being driven up. And to top it off the person they had driving it up smoked in it. Needless to say we waited till they had the car all washed up and ready to go and told them we didn't want it. Then they wouldn't give me back my down payment for the car, luckily it wasn't cashed yet and i just put a stop payment on it. But yeah there are some ***hole dealers out there that don't care about their customers at all.
