Default This may be a silly question but.....

I've looked all around and this may not even exist. But is there any type of aftermarket shifter for auto trans (06). The stock one isnt growing on me like I was hoping it would. Just all plastic, even though it is 2 tone plastic. Any info would be appreciated, Thanks!

Also what does saleen use? I see on their site you can order with auto trans for 1k...But all of them on ebay are manual.

I Haven't heard of any new type shifter for the auto trans. Most people would be concern with making mods to the trans itself. Don't know what Saleen has, taking a guess I think it would be the same shifter.

I have to agree though....the first 05 GT I test drove was an auto, and I hated the shifter. It looked misplaced in the classic-styled cockpit. Matter of fact, it looks more like something you would see throttling up the engines on a 747 or something. I haven't heard of or seen any aftermarket replacements for the auto shifter yet, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Actually it is a close mimic of a 64-66 auto shifter. I have the original shifter from my 65' and it is a T with the release on the side just like these. Same gear indicator set-up and bezel as well. While the original is very slim in the stick area. And the 65' even feels as crappy as the 05' so I think Ford did a great job keeping this aspect in tact. As a side note, I put a B&M bandit pistol grip in the 65' waiting for something simillar for the 05'

I'm waiting, also, for a replacement.

The silver paint on mine has scratched off where it makes contact with the various bits and pieces near the bottom. Looks horrid.

Yeah, i hope something comes out soon. Arent there a couple of companies working on the shifter for the auto. The stock one is too plastic and not too pleasing.

Hurst has universal auto shifters. Don't know if you could get those to work right or not.
