How important are wide tires
Obviously the wider the tire the more contact with the road and bettter traction etc..
Alot of you guys are talking about 265's, 275's, 295's?
I have 245's on right now. Are those wider tires really gonna make that much of a difference?

RE: How important are wide tires
no, 10 - 20 mm would never be a noticeable difference in grip on a street tire.
However, you would notice different handling with a different tire compound or a different aspect ratio (35/45/55/etc). Going from a regular 245 to a regular (non-drag tire) 265 won't improve your grip much at all.

I was told for road racing it's better to learn with narrower tires because it gives you a better feel of the road.
If you put 295's on the rear the extra 2 inches is obivously going to help stop wheel spin.
