Default Huge Hesitation.

I have heard many times about (and experienced) the drive by wire hesitation sometimes felt when the throttle is mashed hard. I had not experienced this anymore once I added the SCT tuner untill Sunday.

I was on the interstate and had been driving around 70-80 MPH for about 45 min when I downshifted to 3rd to pass someone and my car hesitated THREE TIMES. As in three times on one press of the gas pedal. I have had my car hesitate before the tune, but had never felt it happen 3 times.

As far as conditions - about 95 degrees, sunny and the traction controll was off, not that I think that I started spinning tires in third with the stock gearing. I am a good driver, and the car was properly in gear, and it was not when I was racing anyone, so I had not really been driving the car hard.

Has anyone ever experienced this or possibly found a solution?

mine has done it a couple times in the past month or so. last time i down shifted into 3rd at about 60mph to leave a motorcycle in the dust that was ridding not only his bike but my azz also. shifted into third, hit the throttle and i didnt go anywhere, so i put it into neutral and back into 3rd and it did it again, then into 4th and i was on my way. it sounded like the engine just bogged down like i went from 1st to fifth at 10 mph. tcs was on but i dont think it had anything to do with it.

Not to get off topic or anything, didnt mean to jack, but what exactly does the TCS on our cars do? On other cars that have it Ive noticed that when its off the tires grip alot less but on our cars I have no clue because mine does the same whether its on or off.. maybe mine is screwed up?

basiclly theres a sensor in each rear wheel that tells the comp when one is spinning faster than the other, when this happens the computer uses the abs to brake the wheel that is spinning faster.

Actually I think that our computers start pulling timing out of the engine instead of swiching the brakes on and off.

how would pulling timing help you keep from spinning out in the rain when you have already started to go sideways? how about when you loose traction on one wheel. i looked it up in the manual when i got my car cause i didnt know wtf tcs was.

pulling timing will cause the motor to have 0 power and make the tires spin the motor and slow the car down tremendously, kind of like a jake-brake on a diesel.

i went ahead and looked, page 149

"Wheel speed sensors allow excess rear wheel spin to be detected by the traction control portion of the ABS computer. Any excessive wheel spin is controlled by automatically applying and releasing the rear brakes in conjunction with engine torque reductions."

i am not sure what exact engine torque reductions they are talking about but it is probably pulling some timing like you were talking about, but not completley.
