If you're going to spend up to $400, isn't that in the radar detector / jammer range?

dunno, just bought my Beltronics Vector 995 and within the first 24 hours it has already spotted 2 cops that were speed trapping. my sister took me to the tinters to pick up my car yesterday and on the way back the thing starts going wild. so i called her and told her to slow down and sure enough about a mile to mile and a half up the road theres a cop sitting in the median with his radar gun resting on the window sill. so far im loving it, few false alarms but you can easily tell which is a radar detector and which is not.. the false ones hit about 1-3 bars and the radar detector hit a full 8.

Another good thing about the V1. You can buy a kit that will hide the lights on the radar detector. It's a separate display that attaches to the lighter adapter or you can place it anywhere with adhesive tape/velcro. You can also hard wire it to the car. It comes with the harness in the box.

o, i dont care about the lights, detectors are legal where i live so they cant really do anything... and now i dont have to worry about people looking at mine anyways, i just put 5% tint on.

I had 5% on one of my old Mustangs. That is seriously dark stuff. I had to roll down the windows to back out of the garage at night, and I could never tell what kind of car was behind me unless I rolled down the side windows to use the side mirrors. But it looked awesome, and people outside couldn't see anything into your car.

yeah lol, behind me at night all i see is headlights. cant tell the make or model of cars but o well.. only time you need that is to make sure its not a cop following you [8D] but yeah i was on my way to publix today, and some guy pulled up in a f150 beside me and had his window down, i looked over and the dude actually leaned out of his truck window to try and see in my window lol.. i kinda just looked at him funny.. even though he never saw my face lol. i love the 5% because its so dark you cant see in, most all of the light bounces off so its really reflective... maybe he was checking to see if he had something in his teeth?

MikeVistaBlue06 said,

Blue might not be that conspicuous! It is a higher energy (shorter wavelength) and may attract more attention that something red. That is why I detest HID headlights with lens focusing apparati!

I usually run mine with the red readout in the dimmest mode or dark mode. I go strictly by the sounds: beep(x) brap (k) or geigercounter clicks (Ka) = cops!

Yes....red is brighter, and hence, easier to spot than blue. This will be true most of the time.

And when a cop pulls you over for a ticket, you can forget about talking your way out of it if he knows you have a radar detector.
