Default Whining noise? Ford says it's OK?

2006 GT MT with 4800 miles. Getting a whining noise from the steering system when I make a U turn. The faster I turn the louder the whine. I do not have the steering wheel pegged to the end of the rack. It makes the noise regardless of the wheels position in a turn. Any one getting this? Service department at ford said that all systems make some noise...but this is pretty loud and seems to be getting louder. I told the guy at Ford that I shouldn't be embarassed to make a U-turn.

See my other posts on this topic (another thread). The dealership is going to look at this for a second time Monday. I will let you know what happened. If anyone else has had this fixed, let me know.

For most drivers, including myself, the whine occurs during very slow turns after the car has been driven for at a while (15 minutes or so). The dealership tried the p/s fluid flush last time, but no help. They suspect the pump now. The dealership could not replicate the noise last time because they did not drive it far enough.

Anybody had this fixed?

It sounds very similar to the problem I had with taking sharp turns, mainly to the left. Only mine was in the rear end of the car and not the power steering. They had to replace my entire rear clutch pack. It may be your power steering, but still have them check that if you haven't already.
