Default waxing car - waht about decals

Can wax get on the decals on the side of my car? I just bought my car and wanted to give it a hand wash and wax and I was worried about the wax and the decals. It there any part that the wax can not get on?
Thanks.

When I wax I try to avoid getting wax around the decals. It is just a pain to work it out of all of the crevices.

Try TURTLE WAX ICE, it'll work w/no probs. You can even use it on black-vinyl-rubber-weather stripping etc.
NO residue, works even in direct sun.
I even use it on my interior. dash-doors-moldings
The best I've ever seen and used

As a former owner of more than a few classic Trans -Am's (the ones with the large bird decal on the hood) I can tell you for sure, you should try to avoid getting wax on vinyl decals. Although it may not immediatly show any signs of problems, over time waxing decals begins to break down the surface and the color will begin to fade. Not to mention the edges of the decals will begin to lift. Try to avoid the decals when waxing.

What strikes me as odd, is that a professional graphics/lettering installer advised me to keep a good coat of wax on the vinyl stripes they had just put on my car. Claimed that most graphics will fade noticeably over a couple years' time, and that it's best to protect them with a good quality car wax to extend their life.

They said to wait a month before applying the wax, but that it would be good to wax them to keep the elements from beating up on the vinyl too badly. Said that vinyl will fade and peel either way over time ... but wax will slow down the process.

I use a soft toothbrush for removing wax in the crevices of decals, near trim, between body joints, and such. Works great. I can't tell you if wax is good for decals or not though.
