Default Rough ride in 5th gear?!

Anyone else had this happen?
I was on the highway and had just gotten up to speed. I put the car in 5th gear (going about 65 mph) and all of a sudden the car started shaking badly. The steering wheel was shaking so bad my arms were shaking holding onto it. It did this until I came to a stop light and stopped the car. It hasn't happened again since (this was 2 days ago). I have only had the car 4 weeks and it only has about 1700 miles on it. Anyone else experienced this??

Sorry can't say that's ever happen to me. I use to have a Ford Ranger that at times when pulling up to a stop sign it acted like it was going to jump out of gear. I heard that the clutch was still adjusting but I don' t know for sure.

Have you taken it bback to the dealer to have them check the front end?

Almost sounded like a wheel balance issue but not with the strong vibration and it not happening again. I would have the dealer go through it very carefully. Something is not right.

IMO

+1.... Have it checked at the dealer. Problem is that if it only happened once, they may not be able to reproduce the problem.

Yea that's what I am afraid of. I had that problem when I had a 99 Cougar. It would do weird crap like this and when I took it to the dealer they never could recreate the problems. I have to take it in in 2 weeks for oil change/tire rotation so I will mention it when I go. I don't expect them to find anything but it's worth a try. Thanks!
