Any difference in /05 & '06 ?
Hi all I'm new here and we're looking at buying the wife a Mustang.
Been a long time since I last owned a Ford so I'm way out of the loop.
(Old Chevy guy for many years but don't hold it against me [sm=hiya.gif] )
What can y'all tell me about the '05-'06 models?
Any upgrades on the '06 that would make it worth not considering an '05?
We are looking at both late model used and new cars and just getting started.
How do you like the V-6 engine or would you only have the V-8 ?
Any quirks to these cars you have to live with or that require upgrdes?
Any prefered dealers in the Pacific NW in particular the Portland/Vancouver area?
Thanks in advance for any comments!

RE: Any difference in /05 & '06 ?
Welcome Y2K!
Was away from Mustangs for a long time until the '05 came out. Nothing wrong with Chevys, when I was young (I'm 58) all of my friends had em so I guess thats why I bought a Mustang (a 1 year old '65). I've had A Trans Am, a couple of Grand Prix, my wife has a '04 GTP COMP G (h*** of a car), but Mustangs are in a class by themselves.
Ordered an '06 in June '05 but changed the order when I found out '06s had 18" wheels, had to have those (I have 64W bullits). Basically, thats the only change but thats the way to go unless you're planning to buy some others. And for the extra money get a GT, the gas mileage isn't much difference (I get 25 on the road 75 to 80 MPH)and you and your wife will kick yourselves if you don't. When you get in to it the first time you'll know thank yourselves.
Welcome to the Mustang family!

RE: Any difference in /05 & '06 ?
Welcome.
You shoud /could have a hard time finding a used 05 with exactly want you want. New 06s, again they are out there, but, you may have to dealer trade, use locators etc to find that new 06 for your liking.
Drive the 6 , drive the 8, then choose.
The minor bugs in the 05 were worked out for the 06
GOOD LUCK

The 07's are going to start hitting dealerships late this month, so if you decide to buy a new one you may want to consider an '07. There are some package changes for '07 that are worth considering. Go over the the Brad Barnett forum and do a search for "2007 order guide", it lists the new package options. Good luck!

Thanks guys....these forums are great learning tools
Hey there GT300T
"Nothing wrong with Chevys, when I was young (I'm 58) all of my friends had em so I guess thats why I bought a Mustang (a 1 year old '65)"
My older brother bought a new 271 hp hipro 4 speed GT in '65,I was still a few years from driving age (50 this year) but remember that car well as being way cool!
Aluminum high rise with Holley carb, solid lifters, posi rear, disc brakes, lots of cool stuff for way back in '65
Mustangs were always fun to race with my '69 Camaro, nothing like the old Ford vrs. Chevy rivalry back in the day.
I had a bit of a sleeper, stuffed a 427 Vette 425hp engine and 4 speed in my plane jane Camaro in place of the 327 3 speed it came with.
Loads of fun![sm=gears.gif]
These days I like Fords and Chevys and even Mopars & AMCs from back in the day, anything but Japanese.
GM as of late seems to be asleep at the wheel,Ford "gets it" at GM it they don't,we can't all afford Corvettes.
Chrysler is starting to pay attention by the looks of the new Challanger concept,we'll see if they produce it and if so at an affordable price like the Mustang.
I like the Challenger and the Mustang but the Camaro concept car seems all wrong.
