I use a citrus based spray (like 409 or Orange Blast) to get the dirt or road grime off, a very gentle spray with the hose to get the cleaner off, then sparingly spray everything down with a No Touch tire cleaner. You don't even have to wipe it down afterwards. It works great, and leaves a nice shine behind. Been doing this for years on a half-dozen vehicles with no problems.
