RE: question!!!! about painting stripes!!!!!
clear coat = more perminent and harder to damage with rocks and other flying debris.
also they will shine like the paint work with clear where as it will be more of a matt finish without clear
Hope this helps

RE: question!!!! about painting stripes!!!!!
Well here's the deal, if your painting a stripe on your car your going to want to prep the whole panel spray your stripe color unmask it and clear the entire panel. This way you don't feel that edge, otherwise you might as well leave it in vinyl. Also pretty much all paint this day is base/clear so unless your spraying a solid color like white, red whatever then you can't get a single stage paint anyways.

It depends. You can get with a base coat / clear coat or a single stage polyurethane, that doesn't need a clear. Base clear is more expensive, but looks better and will last longer. If you get just a base coat with out a clear, the paint will bleed and fade quickly.

RE: question!!!! about painting stripes!!!!!
so what is considered a good price then for like a base coat then a clear coat for two 12" stripes running the entire car except for the front and rear bumpers.

RE: question!!!! about painting stripes!!!!!
So you wan't just the hood, roof and trunk to have stripes? I would say $1000 or less is a pretty good price. When i sprayed my stripes i went on to the bumpers which is a lot more material and more time to mask it off. But that took me pretty much from 9:00am to 8:00pm, so it's not going to be cheap

I would say about 1200.00 or so. Its not cheap. The Poly is cheap... maybe 600.00 or so. ( I like the poly myself, it always has that WET look.)

+1 That sounds about right. Labor is very expensive, if you would do all the prep work...you could probably get away with spending 3-400.00 for base + clear
