What are you paying for your 2007 Shelby GT500?

RE: What are you paying for your 2007 Shelby GT500?
I had a deposit down for a $10k over deal...got my money back and bought my 2005. But then I put a bunch of money into it.
If I could have got the Shelby for the $42k sticker, it would have been a great deal. For no matter how much you put into a car, the further away from stock you get, the less you would get back if sold.

No doubt about that. For sticker the GT500 is a hell of a car.

The GT 500 is riding the wave of its predecessors and the 500 hp that is under the hood. 500 hp is only good if the power to weigh ratio is right. We're talking about nearly 2 TONS of car here and not a very sophisticated bunch of iron either. Anything over sticker is unthinkable. 5 yrs from now, they will be dumped for whatever the market will bring.
Power has to make sense and be of some benefit. If we are to think that a $60-75K streetable 500 hp car makes sense...uh...then get the Z06....of an M5...at least there is some level of sophistication for the $$$
No offense brothers, but slamm'n a $30K car full of over-priced ponies does not make it anything other that what it is...an over priced car. IMHO.

They've done a lot more to the Shelby than just toss a big motor in it, don't sell it short. Sure the vette or a beemer might be more sophisticated, but the Shelby is not in that price range. It is being artificially inflated into that range temporarily, but that's to be expected since it's new. Do you know how much Z06s went for the first few months they were available? It was even more of a feeding frenzy than the Shelby.

It's the rich who are driving up the prices on both new and old muscle cars. Anyone who will pay over MSRP for any new car has to have money to burn. I agree car dealers think they have gold, and you know the old saying there's an a_ _ for every seat.
