Just did a GT test drive - interior holding me back!

if u want woodgrain trim, smooth sliding controls and doors that shut with a "pft!", then get a lexus. this is a mustang. a musclecar. trust me, you dont buy it for its "luxury interior," although IMO its pretty damn nice already. i couldn't care less if the dash is plastic.
don't let it hold you back. you'll love the car, trust me

I guess its all relative. One of the selling points for me was the interior. Compared to other cars similarly priced I think the quality is adequate and the styling is unique. One of the things that I disliked most about the earlier generation mustangs was how plain the interiors were. I think they have come a long way.

Thanks all I appreciate the response, even though some of you assumed more than I actually said. I never said I expected luxury, wood grained interior, or a Lexus. And 28k may be relative inexpensive for this type of car. But it's still alot of money. I guess all I am saying is, for a few dollars more, Ford could have given us real stainless steel or something similar for the gauge rings. That really is not asking much and would not increase the total price much. Heck, I can buy a stainless steel toaster for 20 bucks (which would contain far more metal than 4 rings used for gauges)! It's not like I was asking for gold or silver plated accents.
And yes I know most other cars use alot of plastic. But still, being relative inexpensive doesn't justify going for the cheap look on some parts. I have read several reviews in the past day, and most of them have one complaint in common. They all agree the interior is better than previous generations, but still is somewhat disappointing.

If that keeps you from getting a Mustang then you didn't really want a Mustang.

Ford has been using a lot of plastic for their interiors for as long as I can remember. My 1968 GT/CS had vinyl and plastic all over the place.
Here's a Saleen on ebay that has "wood"

Pretty horrible if you ask me

I didn't like the aluminum/"chrome" upgrade when I first got my car, but it's starting to grow on me. I also am sure that the aluminum parts are real metal, but I agree that the plastic chrome rings are a little cheesy. Anyone else turn their vents upside down because those 4 smiley-face cyclops freak you out a little?

You think the wood looks bad, have you seen the roush stang with the high gloss carbon fiber decals all over the interior and the little toggle switch shifter with the poor fitting red leather seat kit. Thats really bad.
Salesperson was sitting there bragging about this roush stang, meanwhile the regular GT with the IUP looked 10 times better inside.
