Default Sirius radio

Just wondering what these things cost, Ive seen different prices at different places and they were pretty varying so I was wondering what you all payed for yours. Also looking to see where you guys put them, how hard they were to install and just any other info you can give me on them, because honestly Im totally in the dark on the whole satellite radio thing, but Id really like to get in on it. I just like the idea of being able to take my radio out of my car into my house and pop it in a stereo.. so any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

Oh man, Once you get one you'll be hooked bro for sure. I just got mine about a month ago and havent listend to any cd's (and I have alot so that sucks). I bought mine of e-bay. It's a Sirius S50 and It came with a home kit and a car kit, and a $100 rebate so really it was $200. You won't find that price anywhere, especially not for a home kit and car kit combo. Here's the place I bought It from, Actually I bought another one last week for my dad now he's hooked to lol. This is the same package I got and he has more for sale >> Sirius S50 from JJI Electronics Fast shipping and great prices, I searched high and low and this is the best Sirius radio they make. You can record and store all the good songs you here with the MP3 feature and listen to them anytime and anywhere. It's real cool I already have 160 songs saved.

It only took me about 45 mins to install and was not very difficult to get a high end clean proffesional looking install. I took the center console apart and ran the power wire into the socket in the middle compartment. Then I ran the antenna wire under the dash under the door sill, took the back interior panels out and ran it through a chase next to the seats that led into the trunk. Thank just simply stuck the antenna on the the body not the trunk lid. If you wan't more detailed instrustion I'll give them to you, but antenna placement will be different for yours obviously becuase you dont have a 'vert.

Well, mine is XM, but same basic idea.....here is how I handled the install;

Same installation as BackinBlack06 noted, using the center console power plug. Only difference is that I kept the antenna indoors, as it were....

Good one Back....

Ya, I like the fact that the Sirius you got acts as an mp3....cool beans....I just don't do enough drive time...about 4 miles each way to work and back, and I don't do the transfer into the house, because DirecTV has XM channels......

Thanks for the kudos......and great idea on that install....

Mike

Yea man It's portable. That link I gave you goes directly to the one I have. You can buy that one if you wanted. It has the Home Kit and the Car Kit. The portable thing is the screen part. In the pic on that webpage it's sitting in the car dock.

So the whole stand thing above the screen stays in the car when you take the other piece out to dock it at your house, work, etc?

Yeap, you got it !!

You can take that thing anywhere and listen to your saved music, just plug in the headphones and your good to go. The full color display is easy to read and every channel has a diffrent graphic associated with it. It's real neat stuff. You can only listen to "live" radio though while it's plugged into on of the two docks. Also when you leave it on one channel for more than 15 minutes it records that channel and you can playback like 30 hours on minutes if you just want let it run.
