Default Question from a non-mustang owner

Well I will admit I don't own a mustang, but do like the way that they look. I will not say what car I do own for fear that I would be flamed from the forum. I did just run a 2005 GT 5spd with an exhaust and tune and lost by 2 cars at 90-100 consistantly. I have not yet taken my car to a track so I have no idea what times it runs. What times could I expect from an 2005 GT with a tune? Lets say a range from idiot to pro driver.

Dude,
i've been on this forum for a year and a half and we really don't do that. It's Ok if you don't own a Mustang... YET. The people here seem to appreciate anyone who's into performance and automotive knowledge. We have people here who's daily drivers are GM's and imports. (i'm one of 'em), but we all love our stangs. So, what do you drive? perhaps your question can be better answered if we knew.

AAAHH these damn quote things!!

I have an 04 honda Civic with a K20a2 engine swap. I am running Intake/race header/exhaust and Kpro which allows full control of the ECU. I would guess that I am somwhere around 210-220 whp and my car weighs around 2600lbs. I did all of the work myself. I do like mustangs, but I love my civic. It is a great road course/autox car. I did not build it as a drag car, but my guess is that given the crappy FWD 60ft it is a low-mid 13sec car. If that where the case then a 05 GT with a tune and exhaust would have to be a 13flat-low 13 sec car.

Default RE: Question from a non-mustang owner

The most common mods being done to 05+ Mustangs is cold air intake w/ tune, gears, and exhaust. A new mustang won't see any significant gains from exhaust unless it's full exhaust (long tube headers, mid-pipe, and mufflers). But even a CAI + tune only GT can run low 13's with a good driver. Add gears to that and a good driver can see high 12's........better tires can see a few 10th's improvement also.

But to answer your initial question.....
An 05 GT with a retune and muffers only (we talkin no cold air intake and mufflers only here?) will probably run mid 13's with a good driver. An expert driver might manage low 13's...........and we all know with a bad enough driver a 300+hp car can get up into the 15's[:@]
