Default painting "down there"

Ok, if this is a FAQ - a. shoot me, sorry (I did some searches and found nothing) and b. you people are as strange

1. Anyone know the "color" or "color code" to match (or at least come close) the unfinished surfaces on 05/06 cars?

You know - the fugly green/brown stuff where the overspray stops underneath?

I, uh, missed a little while working on my rear springs and given the abundance of salt up here exposed metal is not a good thing. No dents, just swiped a spot or 2 with the threads of a spring compressor.

So, I am going to cover it with something, might as well match if I can...

2. Anyone out there coating or painting rear-ends? The "pumpkin" is already factory painted, but while I still have a fighting chance, I'd like to treat the rest of the rear to prevent it from rusting out... I hate rust...

Paint selection? Application method? Success?

I painted under my car...

Black on most stuff... and silver on a few things that I want to stand out.

I found a LOT of parts unpainted under there!

It looks like the zync chromate anti-corrosive primer that we used to put on airplanes. I think they dip the entire car in a bath of that stuff...

Yeah, I am just not ready to commit to painting all those surfaces...

Still trying to decide what to do abou the unpainted bits, but in the mean time, I figured I'd try to match the green stuff as a failsafe backup solution...

Not that I should care - noone but me and roadkill are going to see it...
