there's an optional hoodscoop on the 07 GT??? i read in the GT sub forum that some guy has ordered it as an upgrade. is this true and if so where can we see some pics

Its true, I saw a GT/CS that had all the scoops you could want on it at my dealer. I dont think they look all that great, so I dont mind my 06's clean lines so much now :P

Generally this forum doesn't care for the 07 fact. scoop. Ive seen them in person and like how they sit all the way down on hood and are bolted to the hood. Also front of scoop mathces grill. Paint it up to make it stand out more if you like.

The hood scoop is part of the GT Appearance Package. It includes the hood scoop, rolled chrome exhaust tips (welded on) and an engine plenum cover.

I hate the new 07 options. Form should always follow function. Non-functional hood and side scoops are just dumb. They were the only thing I didn't like about my '99, and I thought ford had finally fixed the problem with the '05s, and I couldn't be happier with the sleek lines of my '06. It appears that ford has returned to its old habit of putting goofy non-functional scoops on mustangs.

You think Ford hasn't learned? I disagree. I think they've learned a lot since the '05 hit the streets. Based on the posts I've read in this and other forums, as well as the plethora of body mods available on the internet - I have to believe the marketing people at Ford saw a niche that they thought they could profit from. The customer can still purchase the clean lines, but if that's not what the customer wants, why not give them what they do want? The end-of-the-year numbers for the '07 will tell the tale as to whether it was a good idea... until then, some will complain, others will compliment, the new add-ons.

Exactly. If someone doesn't like the hood scoop, they don't need to order it! What's the big deal? I happen to think the factory hood scoop looks fantastic. Fact of the matter is there is NO hood scoop currently available for the Mustang that nets more than 1 or 2 hp gain, so really the only reason ANY hood scoop is installed on a new Mustang is for looks. If you wanted a purely functional ram air hood scoop, it would have to sit at the very front left of the hood directly over the air intake box. It would be highly functional, but it would look pretty stupid!
