Default RE: Question about depreciation from accident

Back in 2002 A lady hit my then new 02 Z06. Only cosmetic damage aroung $3500. I tryed to get diminished value out of them and they would not budge. I would have had to gone to court and sued. So, the $2K it did cost me in the end was not worth going to court. For the average car I would say the diminished values is not much, but for a some it is a bunch.

So, relize your car is worth less, mod the heck out of it and have fun, cars are not an investment anyway.

I do feel for you, good luck with the repairs.

I have an adjuster assigned to the repair now. I spoke with him today and specifically asked about the depreciation. He acknowledged that they will pay for the depreciation and he said they have a formula they use to determine the amount. I did tell him that I intend to have an independent evaluation done also. He said that he doesn't think I'll be dissapointed but we'll see what that means!!!!!

I found a couple of places online that do the independent evaluations. Cost is about a hundred bucks and I would think that would probably pay for itself.
