I just bought a set from Summit racing $287.90 total cost to me. Some show you a lesser price but then tack on shipping fees. I would say your right in the ballpark. Make sure you use their clamps because the stock ones won't clamp down tight enough. As for sound, they are deeper but not really a whole lot louder than stock. They don't seem to have any drone.

PUT 4 SETS ON VERY EASY INSTALL. BEFORE YOU TIGHTEN THE CLAMPS MAKE SURE OF CLEARANCE ON TOP OF MUFFLERS AND WERE THEY GO THROUGH THE BUMPER? THE PRICE IS GOOD/FAIR.

I am also thinking about going with the American Thunders, however, i'm afraid that they won't be loud enough

I found a local place in Kingsport TN (not sure where you are located) that is going to install the American Thunder Single for $175.00. Is the $275 for duals installed?

I have them (Flowmasters American Thunder) ... they have a significantly deeper sound, but aren't that much louder than stock. There is some drone in the 1500-1800 RPM, but not so loud that its annoying. Radio at regular volume pretty much drowns out the drone.

I got my 2 standard 40 series for 200 bucks tax and all w/ install. Really great sound, especially with my intake installed.
