Tire size Question....are these too big?

RE: Tire size Question....are these too big?
Saleens come with 275/40R20 on the rear. 315/35R20 are almost identical in size. The only difference is the width. 315/35R20's will fit on your car with no rubbing, unless you drop the rear 4 inches.

man a 315/35-20 is over an inch taller than the factory size on our cars...i woulsnt do it. Put it this way, a 285/30-20 is exactly the size we need to keep outer diameter the same....the biggest i would go would be a 305...those would fit on that wheel. MAKE SURE you get enough offset for the rears...so they dont stick out like crazy

Well tire size now might be dictated by where i can get the tires from. Some sizes are just hard to find.[>:]

RE: Tire size Question....are these too big?
I am running 295/45-18 on the rear, on custom wheels measuring 10.5" wide. They look great and fit fine. This is over an inch taller than stock & I have no complaints.

Anything is fine with me so long as you aren't going to put some Arelli assasins on there.[:@][:@]

You could even go with a 275 up front.
Saleen wheels are 275/35/20 all the way around.
Im running saleen 20x9 & 20x10's.
I think a 315 is way too wide.
I would go with a 295 that's even alot of meat.

I went with 17X9's in the front, but right now i'm having problems with getting the tires i want delivered here, the shop I wento ordered the wrong set of tires, so now I have to wait. I'm doing this because my buddy works for goodyear here and I get a discount on them....
Now, it sucks for me becuase i'm going to be taking some vacation time to CA, and i'm probably spending my tire money on that[&:]
Either way, it'll look awesome once I get it done!
I'll take some pictures and put them on a new thread

Alright........ let me tell you about 20's. No matter what anyone says, 20's are perfect for the car. If you don't have a body kit installed then maybe not so much because the car then looks like it sits to high but if you do then start drooling. But anyways about the tire sizes, good luck finding a tire that wide that isn't extremely thin. I went with the bullit replicas 20X8.5 and 20x10, and ended up going with 245/35 in the front and 275/35 in the rear. Believe me, i wanted to go wide in the rear and they do make a 285 and even a 295 but there is no meat to the tire at all. I even think that the 35 is a little on the thin side but it works. I don't have any pics of my car up yet cause i just got the wheels a few weeks ago but if your interested in seeing some pics let me know and I'll get right on it. But regardless of the tire size, 20's are the way to go.

I am kinda one of those guys that like to "go big or go home" types. If i am gonna get Wheels & tires then they are going to be the biggest sweetest set i can get......But that generally gets me into trouble when im thinking about a project.

RE: Tire size Question....are these too big?
I was thinkin about 315's myself, but the profiles offered are thin or quality not that great. Then I stepped down to 295's and the profiles offered were 25's. I need some form of sidewall just to protect my rim lips. So then I chose 285's. The difference between 285's and 295's at a glance are minimal.
