Default Tire size Question....are these too big?

Well for tax time next year i anticapate purchasing a set or Wheels w/tires for my car.

I plan on going with 20x9s in the front with 20x10.5s in the back.....I know for a fact(well not really but pretty sure) that no-one has these installed, but they will look sick. I am not goin to say what they are, because I dont want someone to get them before I do...haha

The sizes i thought about goin with are front 255/35/20 and the rear I am thinking 315/35/20......Now I am not interested in peoples opinion on 20s, thats already been discused. What i am interested in is whether or not that those sizes are too big. I think that the rear is pushing it, but i am looking for the widest tires i can run correctly on these rims. I was thinking maybe for the front i could go with 275s but there might be some problems goin that route as I plan on lowering the car before then.

Let me know what you guys think, Thanks

I seen/heard of guys that already have 315's in the back on the s197's, but if you know anyone with a shop you migh have them stick a 315 under the car with no wheel on it, just to see how it fits.

As for the not commenting on 20's I do have a question, what type of wheel are you looking at, 20" bullits look sick.

Well lets just say they are not anything that you would traditionaly put on a mustang(S197) ie bullits,Shelby Gt500s, ect.

Theyre made by AXIS i will let you know that, but i dont want to divulge the actual wheel themselves(hence my first post), they arent the GT-Rs either

Wow 315's! that's huge!
I just bought a set of 18X10's for the back and i'm putting 295's and I thought that was pushing it. I'll be mouting them tomorrow, I'll check back with you and let you know if there is any space left for your 315s!

Let me know what you think. The tire calculator i found said that 315/35/20s have a tread width of 12.4". The rims are 20x10.5" so i dont think the rim will be holding me back, just the car itself.....

LOL yeah, you can fit whatever tire you want on that rim, what I am worried about too is the car rubbn' against the tire cause it's so damn FAT hahaha

I'm worried about getting some rubbn' with my 295's but as soon as i fit them i'll let you know if i see there is any space left for 315's...[&:]

I love the look of a beefy set of tires, let alone the traction they give(granted that you have some suspension work done). Hopefully everything looks good...I would really like those tire sizes.

What tire did you go with on the front?

man a 315/35-20 is over an inch taller than the factory size on our cars...i woulsnt do it. Put it this way, a 285/30-20 is exactly the size we need to keep outer diameter the same....the biggest i would go would be a 305...those would fit on that wheel. MAKE SURE you get enough offset for the rears...so they dont stick out like crazy
