Shifter rattle
Hi,
I just joind this forum and have a question that I need some help with. I own an 05 GT 5 spped with about 7000 miles on it. The shifter has a small rattle, actually it is progressively getting worse, that is driving me crazy. The rattle seems to be coming from the top of the shifter when I reach higher RPMs in each gear. If I hold it tight with my hand it stops but as soon as I let go it rattles again. It almost seems as thought there is a loose nut inside of the shifter ****.
Has anyone had any similar problems that might know a fix?

RE: Shifter rattle
Harmonic vibration. Not uncommon. The remotely mounted shifter will transmit "rattles" if pushed hard at times. It is hard mounted to the body.
With the Hurst shifter, which I have, which uses harder urethane bushings, rattle is even more prevalent when pushed hard, per Hurst reps. Some people get some relief by putting rubber on the shifter "u" bracket where it bolts to the body, again per Hurst.
