2007: Is the 3.55 worth it?
I ordered my 2007 Mustang GT Premium but I did not realize until after that I did not select the option for the 3.55 rear end. So it will come with the 3.31 which should still be limited slip. Is it worth the extra $100 to get the 3.55? Will a Mustang with a 3.55 be considerably faster than one with a 3.31?

RE: 2007: Is the 3.55 worth it?
I figured it might be a little faster with the 3.55 because of the shorter gearing, why is it worth it then?

Yes its worth it. No it wont be faster.

It wont be faster, it will just accelerate faster. If you want to call that faster then fine but its not, just more acceleration, and technically it will be slower (not by much) but you will lose top end speed.
You will accelerate faster but not be able to reach as high of a speed. This really doesnt matter as you will never be able to top it out at its max speed anyway since our car is drag limited.
To sum it up... 3.55 > 3.31
Also, its a good deal for the 100 bucks because if you wait to get after market 3.55's or higher gears, you cant even get the gears for that much, let alone gears + install.

99% correct, but a car can not accelerate faster, it will accelerate QUICKER!

Hmmmmmm, I thought limited slip was an option for 2007 and standard on 2006 GT's. So does my 06 GT have 3.31 gears?

Thanks, it's a manual. I guess if I want quicker acceleration I need to step up to 3.73. That will probably be last on my list though.

Depends on if its auto or manual. My auto has 3.31 while the 05/06 manuals come standard with 3.55. BUT in 2007 ALL of the Mustangs (minues the ones who pay extra for 3.55's) will have the 3.31 standard
