Default Revving in Neautral bad?

JW if revving in N was bad for our mustangs, and cars in general? Just did it a couple times today while crusing, its kind of addicting Just wanted to know if its ok? thankyou

It's terrible, your car might blow up actually so you must be careful.

JK, but actually you want to be careful when doing that because when you are getting into higher RPMs especially near redline you should be careful because that will not be pretty.

Overall it's no big deal, just try to contain yourself as the autos can only rev to about 4k without it being bumped back down.

There's no harm, per se, but my motto with auto trannies is "no unneccessary action". Every time you move the shifter, the tranny is applying or releasing frictions. By nature, these bits wear. How quickly they wear depends entirely on how you drive (engine braking, high rev shifts, etc), but basically every engagement is causing wear. Manuals have the blessing of still being usable even if the synchros are destroyed and the clutch is relatively easy to replace, but once an auto wears out a clutch pack or band, it becomes substantially less useful and is far more involved to repair.
