30,000 mile service
I went in for the scheduled 3000 mile oil change and the service writer asked if I wanted to do the 30,000 mle service. I told him no because they can't rotate different size tires and I have the cai so the filter dosen't need to be changed. I got out only spending $12.75 for the oil change[sm=icon_rock.gif] They wanted $385 for the 30,000 mile service.

I believe that all the fluid changes was included in that price but that is still too much. My car has been running great with no problems since the day I bought it. Knocking on wood.

RE: 30,000 mile service
I am trying to think if i want to buy the service package from them, if i get all my service done at the dealership they will supply me tires for life ( i think up to 100,000) So i am wondering how long the tires I have will last, if it is 30 to 40 thousand miles then it might be worth to spend the 565 dollars that covers all maintance up to 30,000.

RE: 30,000 mile service
I'm old school. I change my oil every three months (about 1500 miles) with mobile one full synthetic and K&N filters. I've had two other mustangs go well over the 100K mile mark with no problems. EVER. I like your style, 3K miles or 3 months, whichever comes first. (And I DON'T trust dealerships to do the job right.)

It might be worth it if the tranny and rear fluids are changed. 30K is the target especially for the tranny fluid (although the manual calls it "fill for life" (of the warrantee)). The rear fluid should have been changed after break-in (5K) and then every 50K.

RE: 30,000 mile service
From the time I first brought my 70 Chevelle home in July of 1970, I always changed the oil and filter every 2000 miles. Cheap insurance. The original 350 lasted over 340,000 miles before I tore it down, AND, there was no sludge even after all that mileage! The dealers will always try to talk you into extra service, but, by following the schedule in the operators manual, you can do most of the maintenence yourself, save a ton of money (for "go fast stuff") and be assured that the job was done correctly. My plan worked for the Chevelle, and I will do the same with the GT. Plus, while laying under the car while the oil drains, you can gaze around the underbody and possibly catch little problems before they become big ones.
