Radio illumination wire... Where is it?
I just got my new head unit setup. I have only one problem. The Orange/White wire which is supposed to be Illumination (switched by headlights) doesnt seem to do anything. The result.? My new HU is always dark (Daytime mode). I know the stock radio had illumination at night. I hooked everything up correctly using the correct wiring harness. It seems that the new harness didnt pass through the illumination wire. Anyone know of a switched illumination I could tap into for this purpose. (12V when headlights are on, 0v when off). Please help. If I don't get any replys I suppose ill probe every wire in there with a volt meter, dont really want to go though all that if someone has the answer.
Thanks.
Thanks.

RE: Radio illumination wire... Where is it?
I didn't use the illumination wire since my HU stays bright enough for day and night, but if you want it to work I think you must cut one of the extra two pieces that plugged into the stock shaker500. I'm not sure exactly how to describe them but I will look tomorrow when i'm installing my subs.

RE: Radio illumination wire... Where is it?
I ran into the same issue. I ran my gauge pod off that wire, expecting them to dim with the dash lights. Nope!
Now that I have the wiring diagrams, I can see that the radio must dim internally (photoresistor?), cause there is not a dash dimming wire going to it.
