GT 500 dealer adjustment... how much???
So I was at the big Ford dealership out here in LA- Galpin Ford, and they had 2 GT 500's: the red coupe that's been on the cover of all the magazines and a white vert.
When I saw the sticker price on the red coupe I almost told them to take my car in trade as the price was very low! Only $43,000!
Then they told me how much over sticker they were getting... Care to take a guess? I'll post the answer tomorrow.
BTW, there was no dealer markup, it was basically how much more the wealthy customers were willing to bid to get the car.

If you want it you need to jump on it and close the deal. Even when I picked up my GT some guy tried to buy it up from under me for his 16 yr old daughter. He put up 6k over sticker which I couldn't have matched. It helps when you salesman is a honest guy plus he would have never heard the end of it from me since he works in the same squadron as I do.

Markup? Whatever the rich people want to pay to get a novelty. No sane person would pay above sticker. No matter how cool a car is...
Greed is what fuels the dealerships, and it is greed that pushes the GT-500’s into the hands of people that let their money do the talking.

I was at my dealership yesterday in annondale, VA and they have one. I asked the salesguy i dealt with on my car how much they were asking, and he either said $62000 or $67000, I cant remember exactly, but i know it was one of those two.

This is an ongoing problem that dealerships cause. I remember when the S197 GT convertables first came out dealers had mark ups of $10K. Since production is somewhere between 7000 to 9000 units it won't be long before the mark ups drop. To pay $20K over sticker then drive the car off the lot you would lose $25K in a day according to Kelly Blue Book which by the way does'nt give a rats a$$ about mark ups when they appraise vehicles.
