When does the fatory stop taking orders?
I am going to buy an 2007 GT but want to wait until after the winter here in the Northeast for fear of immobility. I'd like to place an order with the factory for a bone stock GT that I have been unable to find in an 06. My question is when do the dealers stop taking factory orders for 07's? If I wait until the end of next February, will I just have to choose from what is already out there or can I order one?

The dealership I bought my 2006 GT through told me Ford stopped taking orders on 2005 GT's in July of 2005. I waited for an "allocation" beginning in July of 2005 and then actually placed the order on my 06 GT in November of 2005. I took deliver of the car in January of 2006.

I placed my order for an '06 on March 29. I was told that it was one of the last 2006 orders accepted (car was built May 29th and delivered to dealer (and thus to me) on June 12).
I think the dates vary from year to year depending on the amount of retooling necessary for the next model year.

order it no later than feb because it takes 2-3 months and will bring you right to april/may just out of winter good luck i am odering mine next week and live in Boston so i need to do somthing for the winter

I thought it only took no more than 2 months on average from the time of ordering to delivery. Ive been told its closer to 5 weeks. Anyone have insight here?

My guess is that if you wait to order early next year you'll receive it fairly quickly - 4 - 6 weeks. I think this summer has had some of us waiting a little longer because of the Cal. Spcl. option and the anticipation of the Shelby. I know there were a lot of orders placed before production began in July so by next spring there shouldn't be a long wait... The '05 took 38 days from order to delivery. My '07 has taken 57 days, so far, and should get here in the next couple of weeks...

If your dealer is really good they'll take a look at existing inventories across the country and transfer the car from another dealers inventory. AZ has a ton of Mustangs sitting on lots and many more on the roads. I still don't get why Mustang and Mustang GT's are so hard to find in other parts of the country... [:-]
