RE: Decided to dump my Shaker 500
OK I see .... so after installilng the resistor then the RCA jacks on the Crutchfield harness plug into the subwoofer RCA jacks on the head unit. After all is plugged in the RCA jacks intended for the speaker AMPS are not used correct? .. Only the subwoofer RCA jacks are used?
ALSO .. can I ground the 5V resistor to the same wire used for the radio ground or should it be seperated? I see the radio ground is built into the crutchfield harness.
I'm assuming all this is covered in the Crutchfield install guide they include .... but just want to make sure ...
Thanks!

The adapter that comes with the radio, which has rca's for front, rear, and subs. This connector plugs into the back of the radio. Then the sub harness pictured on the right of the crutchfield link from above, these rca's go into the sub rca's from the head unit adapter. You can use the same ground, but there are plenty of locations in the stereo area, I used a separate one just for good measure.
And when soldering, use a gator clamp "heat sink", because those leads will get hot, and don't wont to ruin the regulator. I was new at soldering, and had a hell of a time. I know, to the experts, it might take them only a minute. For the sub's harness, in getting both the wires onto the out lead of the regulator, I has some spare wire which I crimped both of them to, then just soldered my single spare wire to the out lead.
Hope this isn't getting too confusing.

Nice find, that's a pretty good head unit you got there. Are you installing it yourself, or are you having someone do it for you. If you are just whatever you to DO NOT take it to best buy or circuit city, pay the extra $$$ to get it done right from a reputible stereo shop.
