Great article on the throttle body itself but I was wondering more about the spacer. You can buy them for about $60 to $100.

Just about everything I have heard on throttle bodies and spacers is that you should stay away from them on our cars. I think theres maybe 1 or 2 people that havent had problems.. everyone else has thrown some kind of code or had some other problems with them.

Sorry, I wasn't thinking straight. I read an article on spacers and I guess I didn't save it, grabbed wrong one.

Basic physics. A 281 cubic motor even with quite a few mods does not require more air flow than the stock throttle body can provide. A couple of years ago a friend of mine had his roller cammed big block Chevy (460 C.I.) engine dyno tested before we dropped it in the car. They had a device that measured how much airflow the engine was using. N/A the engine made 535 hp and 568 ft lbs of torque and it used just under 700 cfm at 5500 rpm. If you do the math on how much air a 281 c.i. engine could use at 6500 rpm assuming 100% volumetric efficiency (which will never happen on a street engine) you will see that the stock throttle body is large enough. About all this aftermarket throttle body is going to do is lighten your wallet. As for the spacer I see no advantage whatsover. If it straightened the air flow or something like that maybe but it's straight in the front already so I see no use for a spacer in this application. In the old days of carburators a spacer could increase plenum volume and give a small increase in top end power but that simply does not apply here. I think the manufacturer of spacers for these cars are just hoping that people remember that using spacers on carburated vehicles provided an increase and are hoping that those of us just aren't thinking that this does not apply to modern cars and just buy thier useless product.
A humble man's opinion.
