Grinding in First while shifting at slow roll
Lately, I've been noticing that 1st gear seems to grind. I'm not sure "grind" is the correct word, but when I try to put it in first while the car is rolling I sometimes feel a nasty vibration and noise through the shifter. The clutch is in so I don't understand what the problem is. It's not the normal hesistation like downshifting, but It grinds than pretty much kicks it out of gear before I can even let the clutch out. Anyone know what to do or what the problem might be ??

Are you holding the clutch pedal down for a while before you put it into gear? If so, it may be a problem with the synchros being off. You can try letting the clutch pedal back out, then pressing it down again and put it into gear with little or no hesitation (not jamming into gear, but easing it in right away), see if that works.

No the clutch isn't down for long at all, I do it like a normal shift. I thought It could be a problem with the synchro's but it only does it in first ??

The owner's manual said something about not downshifting into first unless you are stopped.......i think.....haven't read it in awhile [&:]
Regardless, I downshift into first all the time and don't have any problems as long as the RPM is really low.

Yea I understanf second works well enough, but this is BS IMO. How can you make a car that doesnt downshift into first. I'm not going fast and RPM's will be low. Like reversing than slow roll into first than GRRRR....or slow roll less than 3 mph through a stop sign. Just now on the way home It was doing it when the car was stopped. It doesnt do it all the time so I'm hesitant to take it to the dealer and have them find nothing and in the process F*** something else up. I guess I'll just wait until something breaks, I mean this can't be a normal issue. It's never done it before a couple weeks ago.
