even with a base of 34K after tax tag and title you're talking what 37ish, so even at 37K it's just not worth the money, but as always it's JMO

The Hertz version is only avalible for rent in an Automtic. I'm assuming that they will offer a stick to the public (I hope). One thing that's scary is that because this is a 'shelby' car, the first ones will go way over sticker. It makes Saleen's S281 look like a pretty good deal.

That price is incorrect. Amy (the CEO of Shelby American) has been posting over on the Brad Barnett forums. While the price is not 100% resolved yet, she's projecting a price of around 34k. LOTS and LOTS of people have been griping about that price, but keep in mind that the Shelby GT is getting the performance FRPP pack (FR1) as well as the handling FRPP pack (FR3). I'm not sure of the exact cost of those packs, but I think it's around 2k. Based on photos it also gets a Hurst shifter, plus it has some cosmetic upgrades (stripes, grille, GT/CS fascia, scoop, etc.) Considering that these cars have to go to Shelby's shop as stock GTs and be converted, and that Shelby has to make something off of them, the price seems pretty fair. Sure, maybe it's not a bargain, but it's in line with Saleens and Roushes anyway. We would all love a tricked out GT for 27K, but realistically that ain't gonna happen.
I'm surprised at all the negativity surrounding the Shelby GT, it has been roundly rejected by many people, none of whom have even seen the car yet. I suspect that once the cars start circulating and people actually see how nice they look and perform, the reception will be "less chilly".

I don't think they will be built at Shelby like the GT-H, these will be built on the production line like the GT500... The only parts on this car as shown that are not current Ford production are the hood pins and the grill...
