How noisy should the convertible be with the top up?
This is my first convertible, and as a Canadian transplanted down to Maryland, I don't have a whole lot of past experience riding in them, as they just aren't common up there.
My roof (05 v6 convertible) has a bit of a drafty noise to it, easily drowned out by the stereo, and seems to have developed a very slight rattle on the drivers side. I'm just assuming this is common, and what sounds like a draft is just the wind rushing across my roof (which is just a piece of vinyl).
I need someone to reassure me, because i keep reaching my hand around the edges of the glass on the highway trying to feel where the air is getting in.
Also, as far as a protectant.. Is 303 Aerospace still the good thing to do? It is a vinyl roof on these things, isnt it? (may seem a silly question but humor me)

My 05 had a rattle on the driver's side too, my 07 seems to have much better latches and there are no rattles. The latches engage MUCH easier than the ones on my 05 did.
As far as the wind noise, I have always raved about how quiet both of my Mustang verts have been, there's no wind noise at all. You may have a bad piece of weatherstripping that's letting some air through.

Stratjakt,
I have an 06 GT convertible. Car is extremely quiet. My passengers frequently remark at how quiet my ride is. Sounds like you have a defect somewhere, so you should definitely get it checked out while it's still under warranty.

I get both noises myself. I hear a lot of rattling in the back, behind me on the passenger's side and my side. A little bit of wind too, when the top is up, but hey my top is down most of the time anyway.

Thanks, as coincidence would have it I washed it last night and noticed a bit of stripping that didn't look like it was seated quite right, back against the rear windows. I'll take it in and see what can be done about it.

Mine is quiet as heck - - now - - - check the seal between the door and rear/side windows. Mine rears will sometimes not come all the way up and so then not completely seal against the door glass. All I do is give them a tug and everything is fine for 3 months!

Funny you should ask. I was going down the freeway and noticed a few rattles and wind noises myself. Nothing major as it can be drowned out by the radio, but annoying nonetheless.
