Well, just went down to the local tire store and bought 4 BFG G-Force T/A KDWS 255/50/17 tires for $199 ea. This includes mounting, balancing and warranty on my stock 17x8 polished aluminum bullitt wheels.

My driving is 99% highway so a comfortable ride is important. I also want to be able to rotate the tires every 10K miles.

I looked all over the internet and the cheapest I could find the tires alone was $136 ea. from Jegs.

I figured if I was just buying the tires from one place and then having someone here local doing the mounting, balancing and NO WARRANTY that to me was not what I would call a good deal.

So the tires will be installed monday evening after I get off work. When I get home I'll take a measurement from the side of the tire to the outside edge of the fenders and then order the appropriate wheel spacers.

At a later date I may order the rear spring lowering kit and have that installed. It all depends how the new tire install looks. I know that installing lowering springs in ther back will also include the purchase of an adjustable panhard and new rear shocks. I dont know if dropping the car in the tail end 1" or 1-1/2" is really worth it.

Owning a Mustang is Gods way of telling you..........you have too much money. Or you have a mental.........uh........I mean.......a metal problem. Or possibly both.

My '07 GT with the 18" premium wheel package came with the 235/50/18 KDWS tires standard from the factory. From what I've read, the KDWS is one great ultra high performance all season tire. I was going to put some KDWS tires on my 2006 Charger R/T, but I traded the Charger for the Mustang GT three weeks ago (a great decision I might add).

$130 on tirerack.com How many miles a day are you putting on that car? My next tire purchase is going to come with some 18 inch AR casinos with whatever tires I decide on. Mounted and balance and shipped for under $1500.

And no tax I might add! Shipping for me is about $8 per tire. I'll never buy from a tire store again, tire warranties don't interest me and my local guy does a good job of mounting and balancing a set for $60.

Depending on what he means by warrenty will depend if it is a decent deal or not. If the warrenty means road hazard repair or replace plus free lifetime balancing and rotating then he did ok when you look at the breakdown like this per tire if he was going to buy from tire rack and have someone else mount it.

Lifetime balance 15.99 (this is goodyears price, would assume it is the same at most places)

So it is not that far off, I would take these figures to the place you have installing them and barging down a price to match what you could do by purchasing from tire rack. Dont forget you wouldnt be paying as much tax by using tire rack.

yeah i understand, for me it matters because i dont have the means to balance tires myself, and i have on more then one occasion picked something up off the road around here, took out one of my jeep tires pretty quick.
