ORIGINAL: 2006RedGT

Very nice mod. Where do you put the DVDS/CD's in? And how much did it run you?
The unit opens up to load CD's. It also has a SD flash card slot you can put music on. The unit was around $500 (shipdog.com) + $20 for IPOD adapter (half price at bestbuy.com) + $60 for bracket and harness (Crutchfield). So ~$600 for everything.

Note it is not a changer, but I can load one DVD up with a ton of MP3's....

I've been looking for a similar unit. How does the screen look - I'm worried about the sunlight washing out the image. Install looks great!

Edited - reread the earlier post and saw the source listed....

seriously that unit looks great. my only negative on it is it's not a touch screen but that's a pretty minor gig.

does the ipod adapter charge the ipod when it's on or not tho? Major issue there

Thanks

dang, that thing's fancy. it's a single disc player right?

i'm not too fond of the shaker 500's lack of playing directly through on a CD (the track change pauses when playing a "live" recording like KISS: Alive 2), but due to it being an in-dash changer makes it worth having until i can get an ipod.

Hmmm....Tempted ..very tempted, I hate my shaker and I dont want a single din deck. A DVD would be sweet and $500 is an awesome price.
Any dislikes about it? I know touch screen would be nice, but for $500 dont think you can bitch.
Shipdog , how were they never heard of them, any hassles?

Hey guys sorry for taking so long to reply, busy time.

Yes the unit plays DVD movies. All that is required is ground the parking brake wire, if you want them viewable while driving. The past weekend me and the girl went down the shore and she watched 2 movies on the way, very nice for a quite trip. I personally see no way you could safelly watch a movie though while driving.

As far as the touch screen I actually preferred not having one. The system is controlled from the little joystick on the lower right corner, very intuitive once you get the hang of it. I do Security Consulting by trade, and nothing drives me up the wall more than looking at an LCD with fingerprints all over it. Probably not an issue with other people....The screen on the unit is also very sharp.

Also the unit does charge the IPOD when connected. Not sure about when the vehicle is off, my IPOD always goes with me. Will check it out and let you know...

While it sounds great I think displacing the factory speakers is the next logical step...

As far as shipdog, the only issue I had was they were a little lax in getting the thing out the door. I paid for 2 day shipping, but they ended up not shipping it until 2 days after ordering. It did meet my needs though, ordered on a Sunday and recieved on a Thursday, just in time for a weekend install. I would order through them again, keeping in mind my delivery requirements...
