Default Fuel Gauge

Today I had about a bit less than 1/2 of a tank, and I was hauling around some corners hangin 3rd gear on a windy road... I cut hard around a left turn, and I noticed my fuel gauge dropped down to like E, and stayed there! I restarted the engine at next stop, and still read E... then about 15 minutes later it went back up. This kinda sucks! Is there a known problem with this on 2006's? Or is it norm?

BTW, changed oil today... 5000 Miles, Mobile 1 5w20, with Motorcraft filter... engine does run quieter and smoother, but the ticking/tapping noise when warmed up is still there... Sounds quieter, but definitely still there...

to my knowledge the tsb is for the gas tank shut off.....there are tanks that upon even partial filling will shut the pump off saying they are full when in fact they are not. However the reason your car under hard turns tells you it is on empty is due to the saddlebag design of the gas tank. The tank actually straddles the driveshaft due to the 50 50 weight distribution engineering and space requirements in general. Yes it always evens out when it has had a chance to refill both sides equally. However due to this reason, i rarely let my car get on E in the first place, due to the fact it could give a false reading.

So is this something they can fix? Or a problem to not worry about...

Thanks

To quote my flight instructor from years ago. "The fuel gauge only needs to be correct at one particular level, Empty" LOL.Sometimes the fuel gauges hang up when you've just hung a turn on two wheels.

I tend not to trust guages completely, nor "miles to empty" read outs. In driving my 06 GT I have found that the "Gallons Used" read out is quite accurate. I figure when it reads (from a full tank) 16.0 gallons used, I have about 1/2 gal left in the tank.

Just to throw this out there, I been having a different problem with my gas gauge. When I filled up yesterday it took 20 min or so to show that it was full, for awhile I thought I got ripped at the pump....I haven't noticed what you experienced but will keep my eye open.

It was a very common problem with mine before I tuned it. Now its only happened once since then(about 3 months ago). Mine would read weired after I would sling my rear-end around a turn, but always read back normal after about 10 mins. Just a minor inconveinience, but what can we do with all the electronics in these newer cars.
