Default Quick wheel and tire Q

I don't know much about wheel and tire setups...I found a set of wheels I really like but the widest they come is 8.5, so my question is, what is the widest tire I can fit on them? Like could I run a 275/35/20 on the rears?

you could run that wide of a tire... i run 245 on a 8.5 rim..and i could go 255 and then tire might be flush with the rim.....a 275 will bulge a little on the side but would not give you any problems...., most tire manufacturers recommend that the narrowest wheel for a 275 is a 9 inch wide wheel...but you can still run that tire if you like personal preference...lots of 4x4 trucks run 305 or 285 on 8 inch wheels.

hope this helps

You could run a 275 on a 8.5" wide wheel, but that is pushing it. I have a 10" wide wheel and 275's on it. The problem is that that tire combination is slightly too wide for that wheel. I was told that there is a chance a tire could roll over the lip of the wheel if it is too big for that given wheel.

I have 235/45/17's on a 7 inch wheel(not on my mustang), so I don't see a 275 being a problem on an 8.5 inch rim. I personally would rather the tire bulge a little than be stretch like a ****. when the tire on the rim looks like this / \ it looks silly to me.
