Meanest Loudest sounding exhaust setup

RE: Meanest Loudest sounding exhaust setup
Loudmouths and intake is all performance wise... its really wierd cause it doesnt seem that loud but then I get in the parking garage and when I turn a corner and accelerate back up to speed it gets REALLY loud inside the garage and sets off a few of the more senstive car alarms. It also scares alot of people... guess theyve never heard real muscle growl?

A deep rumble on the outside means automatic drone on the inside. There are also combinations of LOUD that sound absolutely horrible. People hear the muted exhaust of a stock GT and think they want more of it, like cranking up the volume, not realizing that various combinations of pipes, absent any kind of muffler, just sounds plain stoopid. Sound is crafted, and anyone who just wants LOUD doesn't know what the hell they're talking about.
I'm still on a grand quest for the ultimate sound. Like the holy grail, I'll hear it eventually. All you read about on a lot of axle-back threads are Borlas, Bassanis and Corsas, with a smathering few other brands like Imco, Flowmasters, Magnaflows and SLPs. I call these the "magazine mufflers", because they advertise and are promoted heavily and that is what everyone picks up on. But there are also a class of axleback systems that few people have ever heard of, and it is in these peculiar systems that I look for true technical innovation and that just-right sound.
Systems like Coffin and AeroTurbine:

For me, the perfect sound is part of a perfect design, that also includes a slight level of backpressure that the 3V4.6 is known to like. This tends to exclude straight through designs, like Corsa and Borla, (even though I love the sound of the Corsa) in favor of Chambered designs, like the Imco. What I'm looking for is a crisp burble, not deep at all like the Borlas, but a very muted mechanical tone that makes the car sound busy at idle, that needs to be louder at idle than the Corsas. Because I'm looking for some back-pressure, I prefer a chambered design, but heavy duty, and stainless steel. I do not want drone though, so in a way, I'm looking for a chambered Corsa, that is louder at idle.
This is the closest I've seen to this ideal - the Hooker AeroChambers in stainless, reputed to be an anti-drone design:

I agree with you, I want a nice deep sound but Loud if you know what i mean. I love the sound of the hooker system that car has headers and an x pipe if I remember from mustangsounds.
Thanks

RE: Meanest Loudest sounding exhaust setup
You will find a lot of volume with off road x or h pipes. I would say almost double the loudness. If you like stock, and just want it louder, get an off road h pipe. You will love it. If you have off road pipes the pcm must be reflashed, to turn off the rear O2 sensors. This will require SCT 2, or a Predator.
Good Luck!!

RE: Meanest Loudest sounding exhaust setup
Just take off your factory muffler and put 3 1/2" tips in place of them. It sounds great. Thats what is done to my 05 GT I will be posting pictures sometime tomorrow and a sound clip of the exhaust.
